In the film, James (Ice Cube) and Ben (Kevin Hart) must travel to Miami to gather information on a dangerous new drug supplier named Antonio Pope (Benjamin Bratt). However, they have to make sure that their police work doesn’t keep Ben from his wedding. The film also stars Olivia Munn, Ken Jeong and Tika Sumpter. Tim Story returned to direct, with two of the original’s screenwriters, Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi, on script. Ice Cube is also producing under his Cube Vision banner. The original film was a box office success for Universal, grossing $153 million against a $25 million budget. “Ride Along 2” will debut in theaters Jan. 16, 2016.
