“What We Do In The Shadows” vampire classic sequel in the works

PanARMENIAN.Net - A sequel to the instant cult classic New Zealand vampire mockumentary What We Do In The Shadows is on its way, according to co-director, co-writer and star Jemaine Clement, Digital Spy reveals.

The Flight Of The Conchords veteran spoke to The Seattle Times about his new romantic comedy, People Places Things, and mentioned that a cadaverous follow-up is "in the planning stages".

Speaking to Empire Magazine last year, Clement's co-director Taika Waititi spoke about the planned project - then envisioned as a short - centring on Rhys Derby's neurotic werewolf character Anton.

"We [want to do] a short called What We Do In The Moonlight. We'd be following the werewolves around, watching how their wives chain them up at night. You know, on those special occasions."

Clement also recently spoke to AV Club about another spin-off from What We Do In The Shadows called Police Ten 7, a TV sitcom about the film's two highly persuadable cops – played by Mike Minogue and Karen O'Leary – now working in New Zealand's paranormal policing division.

"We've pitched a show for those two cops in New Zealand and we've made a mini-pilot," says Clement.

"We've already been told before we even handed it in that there's no money for comedy and that TVNZ tried to make a comedy about a real estate agent and it didn't go very well. But we still handed it in."

Sometimes it's important to remember just how deadpan Jemaine Clement is: very. Very, very deadpan.
