Steven Spielberg's Dreamworks Studios to split from Disney

PanARMENIAN.Net - Steven Spielberg's Dreamworks Studios is to end its distribution partnership with the Walt Disney Co., which expires in August 2016, sources confirm to Variety. Disney will release two more Dreamworks movie directed by Steven "Bridge of Spies" starring Tom Hanks and "The BFG", AceShowbiz reports.

According to sources, DreamWorks is most likely to do a distribution deal with Universal. However, the sources emphasize that no agreement has been reached. The sources noted that Steven has kept his offices on the lot, even after the Disney deal was struck, and he was executive producer on Universal's hit movie "Jurassic World".

Dreamworks, Disney and Universal hasn't commented on the report yet.

Steven founded DreamWorks with Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen back in 1994. The studio has since made hit films including "Saving Private Ryan", "American Beauty" and "Gladiator". Disney began distributing Dreamworks' productions in 2009.

DreamWorks Animation, which created "Shrek", "Kung Fu Panda" and "How to Train Your Dragon" film series, became a separate company in 2004.
