Apple’s iPhone 6S and 6S Plus officially unveiled

PanARMENIAN.Net - After months of leaks and endless rumours, the iPhone 6S has finally been officially unveiled, landing with some impressive new screen tech, Digital Spy reports.

"Announced during the company's September 9, 'Hey Siri' event, Apple has confirmed the eagerly awaited phones will feature designs largely similar to their predecessors, with a number of specs improvements thrown in to freshen things up.

The first big difference isn't one you can see, but can feel. Hidden within the screen is a new 3D Touch pressure sensitive panel.

Tipped as the "next-generation of multitouch", 3D Touch understands the different amounts of pressure you apply to the screen, attributing different tasks to each degree of pressure.

Examples of 3D Touch benefits include the ability to peek into apps without launching the whole programme, such as selecting favourite contacts from the caller, tracks from Music or even launching the front-facing camera for that emergency selfie.

While the iPhone 6S, like last year's iPhone 6, features a 4.7-inch display, it's Samsung Galaxy Note 5 rivalling sibling boasts a 5.5-inch display.

Screen aside, the iPhone 6S is the usual collection of high-end components you've come to expect from Apple's flagship phones.

With both handset's powered by a new A9 processor, a third-generation 64-bit processor that's 70 per cent faster than last year's A8 chip, a second-gen TouchID fingerprint sensor offers speedier smartphone unlocking.

Despite a reinforced metal frame being in place to counteract last year's bendgate woes, the 6S looks identical to its predecessor.

The phone's stunningly sleek metal framing and rounded edges are paired with a variety of colour options, with an all new Rose Gold (read pink) offering lining up alongside the usual silver, grey and gold options.

An impressive new 12-megapixel camera has been slotted into the phone's rear, with an enhanced sensor and filter helping reduce noise in images and improve low-light shots.

It's not just stills that have been boosted, either, the iSight snapper can shoot 4K video, the first time UHD skills have been bestowed on the iPhone.

Selfie lovers haven't been left out, either. A 5-megapixel FaceTime camera has been slotted in, with the screen being used as a front-facing flash.

It's not just the quality of images that Apple is improving, either, but the type. Reinventing the GIF, the company has introduced Live Photos. An automated process, Live Photos captures a regular 12-megapixel snap, with an expanded capture period 1.5 second either side of the still. The result, when pressed, is a short, moving image. These will be supported by Facebook later this year.

The phones will be available in 16GB, 64GB and 128GB storage capacities, sorry folks, there's still no 32GB offering.

So, when can we get our mitts on the device? Well, you've not got long to wait, the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S will hit retailers in a couple of weeks, on Friday, September 25. Pre-orders will start on Saturday, September 12," Digital Spy said.
