"Truth" first trailer features Robert Redford, Cate Blanchett

PanARMENIAN.Net - Sony Pictures Classics has released the first trailer for James Vanderbilt's directorial debut "Truth" via Yahoo! Movies. The movie recounts the story behind "Rathergate" scandal which happened in 2004 and became a worldwide controversy in 2010, AceShowbiz reports.

Robert Redford plays veteran CBS news anchor Dan Rather, while Cate Blanchett stars as Mary Mapes, the producer of "60 Minutes", the show that unveiled the story about former U.S. president George W. Bush, who went AWOL from the National Guard for a year during the Vietnam War. The scandal nearly took down CBS News and ruined Rathers' career.

"Truth" is based on Mapes' novel entitled "Truth and Duty". The movie was screened for the first time in New York, and it was also shown at the Toronto Film Festival. Vanderbilt wrote the script and produced the movie alongside Brad Fischer, William Sherak and Mikkel Bondesen. Other cast members include Elisabeth Moss, Dennis Quaid, Topher Grace and John Benjamin Hickey. The journalist drama will have a limited release in New York and Los Angeles on October 16 before expanding to other locations.
