Jay Z's Tidal goes platinum with 1 million users

PanARMENIAN.Net - Jay Z's Tidal service has 99 problems, but subscribers ain't one as the music streaming platform has hit the milestone of 1 million users, Digital Spy reports.

The Spotify and Apple Music competitor has lured 230,000 new customers with the promise of lossless playback since April to hit the landmark figure.

From accusations of elitism to the loss of its second CEO over the summer, Tidal has endured a tough start to life, but Jay Z is adamant that the service is here to stay.

"Nothing real can be threatened, nothing unreal exists. Tidal is platinum. 1,000,000 people and counting," he wrote on Twitter.

To celebrate the milestone, the rapper will perform at a charity concert alongside his wife Beyonce, Prince and Usher in Brooklyn on October 20 to raise money for the non-profit group New World Foundation.

For those who can't make it in person, the gig will be available to live stream on the Tidal website.
