EEU technical regulations to be applied on Armenian goodsOctober 6, 2015 - 16:23 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Yerevan hosted a seminar "New safety requirements and labeling of products for the Republic of Armenia in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU)". The event was organized by the Eurasian Economic Commission, Armenia’s Ministry of International Economic Integration and Reform and Economy Ministry. At the seminar, the Eurasian Economic Commission board member Karine Minasyan and representatives of the EEC Department of Technical Regulation and Accreditation presented changes in the EEU technical regulations. “As envisaged by the EEU accession treaty, the exemption term for most goods expires on January 2, 2016. Which means that all major EEU technical regulations will take effect for the products, circulating inside Armenia, starting January 2, 2016,” Minasyan said. “Entrepreneurs, however, will be able to circulate goods in accordance with the national legislation for two more years after taking certain preparatory measures.” Armenia’s business community representatives, in turn, raised some disturbing questions which may hinder transition to the new requirements. These included the need for relevant documents in the Armenian language and transition to paperwork regime on conformity assessment prior to the release of goods into circulation.
