Apple unveils App Thinning feature to deal with limited iPhone storage

PanARMENIAN.Net - Apple has provided the answer to limited iPhone storage in the form of a software update that minimises the memory demands of apps, Digital Spy reports.

The App Thinning feature was quietly rolled out along with iOS 9.0.2, an incremental update that was issued to iron out bugs and glitches.

App Thinning enables developers to reduce the storage needs of their apps so an iOS device only downloads the files it needs.

Additional content will be added as and when it is needed, but in many cases that will be never. For instance, universal apps currently download all data on iPhone, when files for things like iPad artwork are not needed.

The update should make life easier for users on a 16GB iPhone and compensate for the fact that Apple still has a distaste for SDcards.

You can check whether iOS 9.0.2 is available to you by going into Settings on your device and selecting Software Update within the General tab.
