Celebrity chef Marco Pierre White wants Michael Fassbender for bio

PanARMENIAN.Net - Celebrity chef Marco Pierre White has confirmed that his autobiography is being adapted into a film and that Michael Fassbender has "first option on the script", Digital Spy reports.

Speaking to Digital Spy about pre-production on the movie - based on his memoir The Devil in the Kitchen - the TV star and restaurateur explained that The Martian filmmaker Ridley Scott is overseeing the project.

"It's being made by Ridley Scott. This is true," White said.

"Michael Fassbender has first option on the script. Nicholas Drake is writing the script and Anand Tucker is directing. He did that beautiful drama on Channel 4 [Indian Summers and Red Riding: In the Year of Our Lord 1983].

"I have to spend time with the scriptwriter to begin with, so we've got until the end of the year to write it."

On Macbeth's Fassbender, he continued: "Yeah, he's alright is Michael. He's one of the best."

White is a judge in TV's latest cooking competition Humble Pie, hosted by Melanie Sykes. The show sees four amateur chefs set challenging tests to battle it out for a cash prize.

But there is a twist. After each round, the competitors face a dilemma - they can eliminate themselves and take a much smaller exit fee if they think White will dislike their dish, or stay in the running for the cash prize but risk going home empty-handed.

"It is very MasterChef-like," explains White, who was a judge on the Australian version of that show in 2013. "But what's clever - I think this is really clever - conceptually, is how they brought a food show like MasterChef and a created a hybrid with a gameshow.

"But do you know what I think's really, really clever? It's how the contestants become anxious and quite nervous. One - they're nervous by the cook-off. Two - they're nervous of the judges. Three - they get into an emotional conversation. It's quite interesting watching them."
