"Neon Bull" gets Warsaw Film Festival Grand Prix

PanARMENIAN.Net - Boi Neon (Neon Bull), directed by Gabriel Mascaro and co-produced by Brazil, Uruguay and the Netherlands, was awarded the Grand Prix at the 31st Warsaw International Film Festival, which drew to a close in the Polish capital this past weekend, The Hollywood Reporter said.

The jury said that the film was awarded for "its genuine and unforgettable imagery and its universal idea, and for shifting the boundaries of gender stereotypes and opening the deep archetypes that live among all of us."

Mexico's Rodrigo Pla collected the best director award for Un monstruo de mil cabezas (A Monster with a Thousand Heads), in which he "uses sound design and precise visual language to deliver the story and to serve the message," according to the jury.

The film's actress Jana Raluy collected the jury special award.

Runar Runarsson's Sparrows, co-produced by Iceland, Denmark and Croatia, was announced the winner of the Competition 1-2, in which directors' first and second features competed.

A Flickering Truth by New Zealand's Pietra Brettkelly was awarded as the best documentary and Klara Kochanska's Lokatorki (The Tenants) picked up the Short Grand Prix.
