Thousand-person viral vid convinces Foo Fighters to play in Italy (video) October 23, 2015 - 16:33 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Foo Fighters have organised a one-off show in Cesena, Italy after video of 1,000 fans from the city covered 'Learn to Fly' - and it went viral, Gigwise reports. The video saw 1,000 local musicians performing on drums, guitars, basses and vocals covering the 1999 hit 'Learn To Fly' from the Foos' third studio album, There Is Nothing Left To Lose. The video was filmed in an effort to get Grohl and Co. over to Italy to play a gig in the local area. Grohl eventually caught wind of the viral hit and was blown away by the effort and agreed to play a show in Cesena to show his appreciation. Now, an official date has been organised, confirming the date as 3 November at Carisport in the city of Cesena. According to NME, the statement from Grohl said: "I’ll never forget that day that my phone was flooded with texts from friends, all saying 'Have you seen this???', 'Amazing!', 'So insane!' with an anonymous YouTube link attached." "Assuming it was just another 'CAT GETTING STUCK IN A PAPER BAG' video, I didn’t bite at first, but after the 10,000th message, I clicked the link and was absolutely blown away by what I saw." Dave continued: "To see so many people put so much time, and effort, and love into making music moved me to tears. And the fact that it was a Foo Fighters song…well…it’s hard to put into words how humbled that made me feel. It is without a doubt one of the most beautiful experiences of my entire life." There hasn't seemed to be any uneventful Foo Fighters as of late. Recent occurrences include an onstage collaboration with Haim and Stevie Nicks as well as a 'superdupergroup' with members of Led Zeppelin and Queen.
