Focus World acquires Ian Edelman’s “Puerto Ricans in Paris”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Focus World, the multi-platform distribution initiative owned and operated by Focus Features, has acquired world rights to Ian Edelman’s “Puerto Ricans in Paris” starring Luis Guzman, Variety reports.

The pic also stars Edgar Garcia, Rosario Dawson, Rosie Perez, Alice Taglioni, Miriam Shor and Frédéric Anscombe. Edelman will direct and co-wrote the script with Neel Shah.

The film follows two brothers, played by Guzman and Garcia, who happen to be New York City’s two best counterfeit detectives. When the latest must-have “It Bag” from celebrated Parisian fashion designer Colette’s new collection has been stolen, they head to Paris in hopes of cracking the case and collecting a handsome fee.

It is produced by Joseph Zolfo with rapper Pitbull co-exec producing.

“We set out to make a film that was fast and fun, centered around characters audiences could relate to and root for,” Edelman and Zolfo in joint statement. “Focus World immediately got our vision and has exciting ideas on how to launch the film. We look forward to a great relationship with this world-class distributor.”

The deal was negotiated by Anjay Nagpal, SVP of Focus World, with Beth Lemberger, Focus Features’ EVP of business affairs and Gene Kang, Focus Features’ VP of business affairs on behalf of the studio, and UTA Independent Film Group on behalf of the filmmakers.
