U2 cancels concert in Paris following terror attacks

PanARMENIAN.Net - U2's upcoming concert in Paris is no longer scheduled to take place as planned. Hot on the heels of a series of terror attacks in the city, the band decided to pull the plug on the show, which was part of their "iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE" world tour and was supposed to air live Saturday, November 14 on HBO, AceShowbiz reports.

"As a result of the ongoing state of emergency across France, the U2 Paris concert scheduled for 14th November will not be going ahead as planned," they said in a statement posted on their website. "U2 and Live Nation, along with HBO who were due to live broadcast the Saturday concert, are fully resolved to go ahead with this show at an appropriate time."

The group went on to express concern over the Paris attacks and offer condolences to the victims as well as their families. "We watched in disbelief and shock at the unfolding events in Paris and our hearts go out to all the victims and their families across the city tonight," they stated.

"We are devastated at the loss of life at the Eagles of Death Metal concert and our thoughts and prayers are with the band and their fans. And we hope and pray that all of our fans in Paris are safe," they added.

More than 150 people were killed in the Friday, November 13 attacks that included a hostage situation at Le Bataclan where rock band Eagles of Death Metal was performing. The city will close all schools, museums and other public places on Saturday.
