Microsoft delays Windows app conversion tool

PanARMENIAN.Net - Microsoft's grand plan to bring Android apps to Windows 10 phones and tablets has hit a snag following reports that the project has run into delays, Digital Spy reports.

The Windows Bridge for Android tool - dubbed Project Astoria - that allows developers to convert their software to run on the Redmond firm's latest OS is "not ready" for release.

"The Astoria Bridge is not ready yet, but other tools offer great options for developers," Microsoft said in a statement issued to Re/code. "We're committed to offering developers many options to bring their apps to the Windows Platform."

The Android Bridge has apparently been pegged back by reports of technical issues and low-quality ports from the development community.

However, its iOS counterpart Project Islandwood is said to have yielded better results since it requires developers to completely overhaul and retool their apps for Windows 10.

Reports suggest that the Android Bridge is in danger of collapsing entirely, but Microsoft is yet to officially confirm that the project is in jeopardy.
