PanARMENIAN.Net - Following the announcement of the new title of "Prometheus" sequel, "Alien: Covenant", 20th Century Fox has released a title treatment for the upcoming movie. The studio has also unveiled the official synopsis, revealing what the movie will be about, AceShowbiz reports.

The title treatment has a background which looks like a galaxy. The font design of the words is taken from the first film in the original "Alien" franchise. Scott probably wants to make audiences aware that the upcoming movie is directly connected to the 1979 film.

As for the official synopsis, it suggests that "Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in 'ALIEN' with 'ALIEN: COVENANT', the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with 'PROMETHEUS' - and connects directly to Scott's 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world - whose sole inhabitant is the 'synthetic' David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition."

Based on the synopsis, the "Covenant" title comes from the name of a ship that will play a big role in the movie. Some speculate that the film will be told from the point of view of the Covenant crew. However, there is no information about Noomi Rapace's Elizabeth Shaw and it is still unknown how she will fit into the plot.

Other cast members have yet to be announced. The sci-fi adventure movie is slated to be released in North America on October 6, 2017.
