“Star Trek Beyond” writer to pen “God Particle” sci-fi thriller

PanARMENIAN.Net - After writing “Star Trek Beyond” for Paramount and J.J. Abrams‘ Bad Robot, Doug Jung is being hired to rewrite “God Particle” for the two companies, TheWrap has learned.

Julius Onah is attached to direct the modestly-budgeted sci-fi thriller, while Abrams will produce with his Bad Robot partner Bryan Burk. Oren Uziel wrote the original screenplay.

“God Particle” follows an American space station crew who, believing they have destroyed Earth via a Hadron accelerator, allow the crew of hostile nations to board their ship, with disastrous results.

Jung recently co-wrote “Star Trek Beyond” with star Simon Pegg — a job he won after writing a script titled “Diamond” for Paramount and Bad Robot.

Jung is a veteran TV writer who has worked on “Big Love,” “Dark Blue” and “Banshee.” He also wrote James Foley’s 2003 grifter movie “Confidence” starring Ed Burns, Rachel Weisz, Andy Garcia and Dustin Hoffman.
