Windows 10 latest app “uninstalling programmes without permission”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Windows 10 has sections of its user base riled up following reports that the operating system is uninstalling programmes without permission, Digital Spy said.

It seems that Microsoft is exercising its right to uninstall apps that may cause system instability and crashes when users download the latest update.

"The Microsoft Services Agreement allows Microsoft to change or discontinue certain apps or content where we deem your security is at risk," said a Microsoft spokesperson in a previous statement.

"Software that is pirated or botted places the safety and security of our customers at risk, including a higher risk of malware, fraud, public exposure of personal information, and poor performance or feature malfunction.

"We remain committed to protecting our customers from the risks of non-genuine software and protecting the intellectual property of developers of all types of content."

The issue came to light when VentureBeat reported that popular gaming services CPU-Z and AMD's Catalyst Control Centre are getting the boot when the latest OS update is installed.

CPU-Z is a processor monitor that allows users with overclocked PCs to keep tabs on their machine's performance, while the AMD application is for monitoring graphics card usage.

A simple reinstall solves the problem, but users are understandably miffed that Windows 10 is uninstalling apps on their behalf.
