Green Day to re-release “American Idiot” hit album for Black Friday

PanARMENIAN.Net - Green Day have announced that they're re-releasing their 2004 multi-platinum album, American Idiot - just in time for Record Store Day's Black Friday, Gigwise reports.

The ‘Dookie’ rockers will release American Idiot as a double LP, with a red and black disc and a white and black disc. The pressing will be limited to 5,000 copies.

Unfortunately for British fans, the LP will only be released in independent record stores across the US. For American fans, the Record Store Day website has the full list of stores that will stock the record.

The concept album was the American punk-rock band’s seventh studio album and featured Green Day hits such as ‘Boulevard of Broken Dreams’, ‘Holiday’ and ‘Wake Me Up When September Ends’. The album won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album 2005. Billie Joe Armstrong, the band’s frontman, described the album as a “punk opera”.

Last month, the band released a documentary covering the making of American Idiot, entitled ‘Heart Like A Hand Grenade’. The film features rare footage of the band performing the album’s title track, American Idiot, for the very first time during an LA show in 2004. The film is now available on DVD.
