Raspberry Pi’s $5 PC sells out within 24 hoursNovember 28, 2015 - 15:57 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Raspberry Pi Zero has sold out within 24 hours - well, that's what happens when you release a computer with an asking price of just $5, Digital Spy reports. Customers scrambled for a slice of the Pi and all 20,000 units were quickly snapped up. The latest issue of MagPi magazine, which comes with the micro-PC attached, has also been selling out across the country. "You'd think we'd be used to it by now, but we're always amazed by the level of interest in new Raspberry Pi products," Raspberry Pi foundation founder Eben Upton told Wired. "Right now it appears that we've sold every individual Zero we made (that's roughly 20,000 units) and most of the 10,000 MagPi issues with cover-mounted units; people are scouring the country for the last few Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury and Smiths branches that haven't sold out." Measuring in smaller than a credit card, the Pi Zero comes with a Broadcom BCM2835 application processor, 512MB of RAM, a microSD card slot, and a mini-HDMI socket on board. Said to be around 40% faster than the original Raspberry Pi, the machine is capable of doing things that defy its tiny proportions, like supporting 1080p at 60 frames per second and running games like Minecraft. Copies of MagPi with the Zero on the cover have been popping up on eBay, going for more than $45. The Raspberry Pi website has even put a map together highlighting every retailer that will be stocking the magazine to help people get their hands on the tiny computer.
