John Goodman to join Luc Besson’s big budget sci-fi “Valerian”

PanARMENIAN.Net - John Goodman has closed a deal to join Luc Besson and Europa Corp.’s big budget sci-fi pic “Valerian”, Variety reports citing sources.

He will provide the voice for an alien character in the film, which stars Dane DeHaan, Cara Delevingne, Clive Owen, Ethan Hawke and Rihanna.

Besson will write and direct, while his wife, Virginie Besson Silla will produce on behalf of EuropaCorp, which will finance, produce and distribute.

“Valerian” is based on a graphic novel — set in the 28th century, when humanity discovered how to time-travel — which was created by Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mezieres in 1967 and has since sold more than 10 million copies in 21 languages. In the comics, Valerian (DeHaan) and Laureline (Delevingne) are agents of the Spatio-Temporal Service, which protects the planets of the Terran Empire.

The film is set to bow on July 21, 2017.

Goodman can currently be seen in “Trumbo” opposite Bryan Cranston and CBS Films’ “Love the Coopers.” He will next appear opposite Mary Elizabeth Winstead in the Bad Robot-produced thriller “Valencia.” Goodman is also filming a supporting role in “Kong: Skull Island.” He’s represented by the Gersh Agency and attorney Amy Nickin.

The news was first reported by The Wrap.
