DreamWorks Studios acquires rights to “A Novel of Dining and Deceit”

PanARMENIAN.Net - DreamWorks Studios has acquired the rights to the novel “Food Whore: A Novel of Dining and Deceit” by Jessica Tom, Variety reports citing sources.

The book was published this past October by publisher William Morrow. Lisa Rubin has been tapped to adapt the screenplay for the studio.

The story follows Tia Monroe, who after graduating college has every intention of taking the New York City restaurant scene by storm. But after a coveted internship goes up in smoke, Monroe is suddenly just another food lover in the big city. Everything changes when a legendary New York Times restaurant critic lets Monroe in on a career-ending secret: he’s lost his sense of taste. Now he wants her to serve as his palate, ghostwriting his reviews.

CAA brokered the deal on behalf of Tom. Tom is also represented by Stefanie Lieberman at Janklow & Nesbit.

Rubin is adapting the Gayle Forman best-selling novel “I Was Here” for New Line and is also developing an original feature for producers Anthony Bregman and Stefanie Azpiazu. She is represented by UTA and Brillstein Entertainment.

DreamWorks also recently optioned the yet-to-be-published Dennis Lehane novel “Since We Fell,” which the author is adapting for the studio.
