Karabakh Foreign Minister talks border tension in Washington

Karabakh Foreign Minister Karen Mirzoyan, who is on a working visit to the United States, met Tuesday, December 8 with the representatives of the Armenian Assembly of America and the Armenian National Committee of America.

During the meetings, issues of further development of the Karabakh-U.S. cooperation, the latter's support to Artsakh, as well as increasing Azeri provocations and ceasefire violations on the line of contact were discussed. The Minister hailed Karabakh's high level of cooperation with Armenian organizations in the U.S. and stressed the importance of activities aimed at protecting the interests of Artsakh in the States.

After meeting with ANCA members, the Foreign Minister took part in a reception organized for the participants of Pro-Artsakh Advocacy campaign, who had arrived in Washington for meetings in the U.S. Congress and discussions with congressmen on issues related to Artsakh. During the reception, Mirzoyan delivered remarks to answer a number of questions afterwards.

The same day, Mirzoyan met with the OSCE Minsk Group U.S. Co-chair Ambassador James Warlick to discuss a range of issues related to the current stage of negotiation process. The parties agreed on the need for measures aimed at excluding ceasefire violations and reducing tension along the line of contact.

Karabakh Permanent Representative to the U.S. and Canada Robert Avetisyan accompanied the Minister at the meetings.
