PanARMENIAN.Net - Awards season has begun with the announcement of the nominees for the 22nd annual Screen Actor Guilds Awards. Anna Faris and Anthony Mackie helped reveal the motion picture and television lists on Wednesday, December 9 at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, AceShowbiz reports.

"Trumbo", a biopic about a Hollywood screenwriter who was blacklisted for rejecting to take part in communist witch hunt, leads the pack with three nods in movie. Bryan Cranston is nominated for best actor, Helen Mirren is vying for best supporting actress, and together with other co-stars, they are up for best cast ensemble.

"Steve Jobs" stars Michael Fassbender and Kate Winslet also land a nod each for best actor and best supporting actress respectively and so do "The Danish Girl" pair Eddie Redmayne and Alicia Vikander. Leonardo DiCaprio joins the stiff competition for best actor, thanks to his role in "The Revenant".

Meanwhile, candidates for best actress are Cate Blanchett ("Carol"), Brie Larson ("Room"), Helen Mirren ("Woman in Gold"), Saoirse Ronan ("Brooklyn"), and Sarah Silverman ("I Smile Back"). Larson's Jacob Tremblay and Blanchett's co-star Rooney Mara are additionally up for best supporting actor and actress respectively.

Other nominees include "Beasts of No Nation", "Spotlight", "The Big Short", "Straight Outta Compton", and "Bridge of Spies". The winner will be feted at a ceremony on January 30. Carol Burnett will receive a Life Achievement Award.
