Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page putting together new band to tour in 2016

PanARMENIAN.Net - Great news for fans of Led Zeppelin - no, it's not a reunion, but the next best thing. It looks like the 'Black Dog' rock icons' classic songs and albums could be brought back to life by guitar hero Jimmy Page, who's putting together a new band to tour in 2016, Gigwise reports.

The Les Paul axe-wielding icon of the classic rock age has revealed that he'll be hitting the road with something 'totally different' to everything that he's done before.

"There will be all sorts of material from different eras. Right across the board; that’s the way I’m seeing it", he tells Guitar World. "But like I said, there will be surprises. It won’t be entirely what people might be expecting.”

Speaking on progress on his first new solo album since 1988's Outrider, he added: "What I’m doing is something that’s going to be quite different,” Page said of the album during a press event earlier this year. “It wouldn’t be anything that hopefully you’d imagine I would do."

This echoes what Page told Gigwise last year - when he replied to rumours of a Led Zeppelin reunion saying: "I intend to be playing myself - seen to be playing and out there playing. The music that I would do goes before Led Zeppelin, and beyond. So obviously it's a major part of my musical career so I'm going to play their music. Why wouldn't I?"

Page later added: “The next thing for me to do is in some shape or form or vehicle is to be seen to be playing live - that would be next year. I can’t be doing that this year.”
