Google teases Android N release with new features

PanARMENIAN.Net - You're probably still impatiently waiting for Android 6.0 Marshmallow to hit your handset, but that hasn't stopped Google teasing its next major software release, Android N, Digital Spy said.

Fielding questions around its new Pixel C tablet in a Reddit AMA, Google's Android leads have suggested features missing from the slate will be available next year, when Android N is introduced.

"We're working on lots of things right now for N that, of course, we wish we had, you know, yesterday. But we'd spoil the surprise of N if we shared all of them," said Andrew Bowers, Google's director of consumer hardware.

Offering a few more insights of what's to come in Android N, he added: "Split screen is in the works."

Backing up Bowers' teases, Glen Murphy, director of Android stated: "Android continues to get better and better on tablets – we think the Pixel C is the best yet. That said, we know there are lots of things to do, and are looking forward to releasing them when they're awesome and ready.

"We're spending a lot of time working with developers to get better and more awesome tablet apps, but it is definitely a chicken-egg problem, and we think a key driver is awesome hardware."

Despite revealed that Google is "spending a lot of time on… multi-window" features, Murphy failed to offer further details on Android N.

Although yet to be handed its sweet-treat name, it is expected that Android N will be unveiled at Google I/O next summer ahead of an autumn rollout.
