Armenian, Azerbaijani Presidents to meet in Switzerland Dec 19

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan will leave for Bern, Switzerland on December 18 to meet with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev the next day.

The OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs will mediate the meeting, the President’s press office reports.

Sargsyan and Aliyev last met on October 27, 2014 in Paris.

After separate meetings with the French leader, the Armenian and Azeri Presidents conducted negotiations with the participation of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chairs and the personal representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk, followed by a private conversation between Sargsyan and Aliyev.

The negotiation results were summed up late in the evening at a joint meeting between Presidents Hollande, Sargsyan, Aliyev , the Co-Chairs and Kasprzyk.

The participants stressed the importance to continuing the dialogue in the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship and establish confidence-building efforts to make progress in peaceful negotiations. The absence of an alternative to the peaceful resolution of the conflict was stressed. The parties agreed to proceed with high-level negotiations.
