FPWC, VivaCell-MTS install heating systems in rural communities

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) and its general partner VivaCell-MTS presented the outcomes of a project implemented in Aragatsotn province’s Ujan community.

In the framework of the joint Alternative Energy Project, a heating system equipped with solar water heaters was installed in the village.

VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian, FPWC team, the governor of Aragatsotn region, the head of Ujan community and community residents attended the launch of the system.

“Sadly, winter causes major concerns and worries in provinces,” Yirikian said. “Providing heating and hot water through solar energy to the kindergarten was the best solution: now the community will be able to reduce electricity expenses and spend the saved money for other important issues. The environmental benefits of the program, including reduced air pollution, rational use of natural resources should also be noted.”

With approximately 2.700 residents, Ujan community’s kindergarten currently houses 60 children. The kindergarten hasn’t had regular heating in winter since the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Thanks to the project, the kindergarten will operate all year round and receive free of charge heating during the daytime in winters. The solar heater will provide hot water throughout the year.
