President, Ministers talk possible military operation modesDecember 18, 2015 - 18:34 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - President of Armenia, Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces Serzh Sargsyan held Friday, December 18, consultations at the Ministry of Defense, the President's press office reports. Also attending the consultations were the Prime Minister, Ministers of Defense and Finance, other officials, as well as the senior staff of the Ministry and commanding officers of Armenia's Armed Forces. At the meeting, the participants summarized the results of the Defense Strategic Review process carried out in 2014-2015. Also, plans for the Armed Forces' development in 2016-2020, as well as the state program on the Development of arms and military equipment were discussed. The meeting addressed possible modes and means of conducting military operations, the commanding structure of the Armed Forces and main areas of development, as well as steps aimed at equipping the Armed Forces with modern weaponry and defense technology. Reference was made to the results of the implementation of the previous 2011-2015 state program, for the Development of arms and military equipment, suggesting that the plans were entirely fulfilled. The President stressed that along with the process of equipping the Armenian army with modern technologies, it is necessary to pay due attention to the continuous improvement of professional skills. Also, President Sargsyan made some instructions concerning the implementation of the Defense Strategic Review. The leadership of the Ministry of Defense assured the President that the implementation of the development plan and arms program, as well as the adoption of new approaches and principles will allow to significantly increase the combat readiness of the Army.
