Samsung's 2016 smart TVs to double as smart home control centresDecember 30, 2015 - 11:59 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - If you're an early adopter who's already bought into the smart home concept, you might want to consider a Samsung set as your next smart TV, Digital Spy said. That's because the tech giant has announced that all of its 2016 smart televisions will double as control centres for connected households thanks to SmartThings integration. SmartThings is a hub for controlling internet-connected lights, locks, security cameras and more. With it built into their TV, users can control their smart home without having to purchase a separate SmartThings hub - only a free SmartThings Extend USB adapter is needed to add the ZigBee and Z-Wave automation protocols to their TV's WiFi. "With Samsung Smart TVs working with the SmartThings technology, we have an opportunity to reach millions of households," said Alex Hawkinson, CEO and co-founder of SmartThings. "Applying this technology into current household devices is a major step forwards that will make it much easier for everyone to experience the benefits of a smart home." Samsung plans to show off its Internet of Things-ready TVs at CES 2016 in early January.
