Microsoft wants to bring Office 365 to carsJanuary 6, 2016 - 16:01 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Everyone's familiar with the Home edition of Microsoft Office, but what about the car edition? The Redmond firm has revealed plans to bring aspects of the productivity software to drivers for use during their daily commute, Digital Spy reveals. Microsoft has partnered with Harman to bring Office features to the dashboards of connected vehicles, backed up by a smart interface that's safe to use behind the wheel. "Bringing the power of Office 365 into Harman's connected car systems will provide new productivity solutions and transform the driving experience," said Microsoft's Peggy Johnson. "By ensuring that Office 365 services are seamlessly integrated with car and driver telematics and performance data, we will allow consumers to be more productive during their driving hours, while enjoying far greater convenience, safety and reliability." Although Office 365 may be limited to the odd Skype conference call or voice memo when driving, the advent of driverless cars could pave the way for more extensive use. Microsoft is also bringing Windows 10 to vehicle dashboards through a partnership with IAV, which will leverage the Continuum feature of mobile devices running the OS.
