Anthony Hopkins, Colin Farrell thriller “Solace” release date set

PanARMENIAN.Net - “Solace”, a thriller with Anthony Hopkins and Colin Farrell, will hit theaters on Sept. 2, 2016, Variety has learned.

The film centers on a retired forensic psychiatrist who is drawn into the hunt for a serial killer. The twist is that both hunter and hunted are clairvoyant. Hopkins, no stranger to the world of the macabre from his work in “The Silence of the Lambs,” will play the doctor and Farrell, most recently in HBO’s “True Detective,” will take on the murderer role.

“Solace” is being backed by Relativity Studios. The company is in Chapter 11, but announced this week that it has reached an agreement to acquire Trigger Street, the production label run by Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey. As part of the deal, Spacey and his partner Dana Brunetti will take over management of the film unit once Relativity exits bankruptcy protection.

No other films are currently dated to head off against “Solace.” The week before brings the horror film “Patient Zero” and the drama “The Infiltrator,” while the following week will see the release of Clint Eastwood’s “Sully.”

Jeffrey Dean Morgan (“Red Dawn”) and Abbie Cornish (“Limitless”) co-star in the movie.

Afonso Poyart (“Dos Coelhos”) directs the film from a script by Sean Bailey and Ted Griffin. “Solace” was produced by Beau Flynn and Thomas Augsberger, with Relativity founder Ryan Kavanaugh serving as executive producer.
