VivaCell-MTS helps 40 families renovate, rebuild their houses

PanARMENIAN.Net - 40 families from various Armenian provinces started the New Year with joy and new hopes in their new or renovated homes.

In late 2015, construction of a half-built house was completed and the roof of another family house was renovated in the village of Yervandashat, Armavir province owing to the partnership between VivaCell-MTS and Fuller Center for Housing Armenia. In 2014-2015, 11 more families in Armavir province were assisted through the housing project.

VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian and Fuller Center for Housing Armenia President Ashot Yeghiazaryan participated in the housewarming ceremonies of both houses.

The Karapetyans started construction of their house 25 years ago but could not finish it. All these years they have been living in tin shelters, where their two sons were born and raised.

“The New Year holidays are gone but the happy spirit is still with us. This is probably the most remarkable and joyous New Year for me and my family. After many years of expectation we celebrated the New Year in our new and bright home. Poor housing conditions have affected my children’s health. I am grateful for the significant change in our lives,” Mrs. Anoush Karapetyan said.

“It is pleasant to start the events of 2016 with a housewarming,” Yirikian said. “We now see the results of the program that had commenced last year. The construction period was long and laborious for the cooperating parties, but to the families who had finally acquired a house after years of anticipation it must have felt like the shortest year. The highest proof of the program’s success are smiles of the people who have been relieved of their housing problem. Taking into account the significance of the program, we now announce that we will continue its implementation into the year 2016.”

“The happiness of this family is our happiness as well as the guarantee of our success. I hope this year will also be productive. A lot can be changed with joint forces. I am sure there will come a day when each Armenian family has a safe home,” said Fuller Center for Housing Armenia President Ashot Yeghiazaryan.

VivaCell-MTS invested AMD100 million (AMD55 million in 2014) in the project in 2015, with Fuller Center for Housing Armenia implementing it. Through this partnership, the number of the families having their houses renovated or reconstructed has reached 93 since 2007.
