Sony's new smart light doubles as intercom, controls TV

PanARMENIAN.Net - Sony has launched a new smart ceiling light in Japan, and it might just be the most versatile home appliance you've ever seen, Digital Spy reports.

The Multifunctional Light lives up to its name with built-in sensors for motion, luminance, temperature and humidity, as well as a memory card slot, infrared controller, speaker and microphone.

The appliance can do an insane amount of things for a light fixture, like turn on the TV when it detects you entering the room, adjust the air conditioning, act as an intercom, and record voice memos.

Like most smart lights, it can also be synced with any internet-connected mobile device so users can activate it remotely or set up a timer - but that's standard for a connected bulb.

Sounds great, doesn't it? But there's a major geographic caveat - Sony has no plans to release the Multifunctional Light outside of Japan right now, Digital Spy said.
