Megakopter drones set world record for heaviest load lifted (video) January 22, 2016 - 16:02 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Meet the Megakopter, the Incredible Hulk of the drone world - it's just set a new record for heaviest load lifted by a model aircraft. The multi-rotor behemoth is the result of eight hexacopters being spliced together by a team of engineers from the University of Oslo, Digital Spy said. The combined might of their 13 rotors and four dozen motors was enough to lift a load of 61 kilograms and hold it there for 37 seconds, a feat that earned the team a Guinness record. The team behind the Megakopter claims that future versions could be even more powerful, capable of carrying larger cargo or even people. This isn't the only drone record to tumble of late, with a team of Intel engineers recently setting a new record for number or drones kept airborne at once.
