Sam Raimi circling “A Prophet” French crime thriller remake

PanARMENIAN.Net - Sam Raimi is in early talks to direct A Prophet, a remake of the 2010 French film for Sony and Neal Moritz’s Original Film. Moritz and Toby Jaffe are producing, and the remake has a script by Dennis Lehane, Deadline reports.

The Jacques Audiard-directed French film chronicles a young man’s rise to the top of a crime syndicate after he’s mentored by the boss. The pic was a Best Foreign Language Film Oscar nominee in 2010, won Grand Prize at Cannes and nine César Awards in France.

Talks are in the early stages but look promising. Raimi’s last big studio film was 2013’s Oz The Great And Powerful, and he directed three Spider-Man installments for Sony.
