The Libertines kick off UK arena tour

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Libertines have kicked off their UK arena tour, storming Glasgow's SSE Hydro with a hit-packed set, Gigwise said.

After warming up with an intimate and sweaty surprise gig this week in Coventry, the January 21 night was the first main date of a tour that sees Pete, Carl, Gary and John take to some of the biggest headline shows of their career.

The likely lads are hitting the road for a string of huge gigs, joined by the likes of Sleaford Mods, The Enemy, Blossoms and more at selected gigs - including what's sure to be an epic night at The O2 in London, Gigwise said.

After being supported by indie stalwarts Reverend & The Makers and The View, the band opened with 'Barbarians' from their exquisite comeback album Anthems For Doomed Youth - kicking off a career-spanning and arena-ready 21-song strong set.

Many may have worried if the band's shambolic grace would translate well onto the arena stage, but headlining Hyde Park and Reading & Leeds has clearly stood them in good stead, with the sheer calibre of their catalogue and the waves of mutual love between band and their howling dedicated following more spilling over the vast space of the Hydro, Gigwise said.
