American rock band Deftones reveal new album release date

PanARMENIAN.Net - Deftones have confirmed the release date for their 8th studio album, the as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2012's Koi No Yokan, NME reveals.

The new release is due on April 8, guitarist Stephen Carpenter told a guitar convention over the weekend, in Anaheim, California.

Carpenter said: "[We're] sitting around waiting for the release of our new record. It comes out April 8th. We have some dates in Texas in March, in May-June we're off to Europe for some festivals out there. We'll play for all the people who are interested and want to hear it."

The album will be the band's first since the death of bass player Chi Cheng in 2013, and is said to be inspired by Morrissey.

The record was originally slated for release in September 2015, but was delayed, with the band saying they been able to take their time on the record "for the first time ever".

Drummer Abe Cunningham and keyboardist Frank Delgado spoke to Morning Blaze in late October 2015, with Delgado saying: "It’s going to come out in the new year… We had some dates that were already kind of tentative."

Cunningham added: "It’s being mixed now. It started being mixed a couple weeks back [in October]… We’re mixing and we still are in the process of album title, artwork, song titles. We haven’t even got there yet, but the music’s done."

Deftones will play Wembley Arena on June 3, a date rescheduled after the band pulled a November date due to the attacks at an Eagles Of Death Metal gig in Paris.
