Amazon Studios picks up “Weiner-Dog” hot Sundance comedyJanuary 27, 2016 - 11:04 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Amazon Studios cannot be stopped when it comes to acquiring hot Sundance movies. It has now picked up the domestic rights to “Weiner-Dog”, TheWrap has learned. Amazon committed to a significant theatrical release when negotiating the deal because it wants to support the theatrical release window, but the film will be available on Amazon Prime somewhere down the line. The film premiered at Sundance on Jan. 22, and Amazon nabbed domestic rights shortly after the screening. The streaming service already acquired two of this year’s hottest Sundance titles, “Love and Friendship” and “Manchester by the Sea.” “Weiner-Dog” stars Greta Gerwig, Danny DeVito, Kieran Culkin, Julie Delpy and Ellen Burstyn. It follows several groups of people who at some point in the film own a dachshund. “Welcome to the Dollhouse” director Todd Solondz wrote and directed the movie, while Annapurna’s Megan Ellison produced with Christine Vachon. David Hinojosa served as executive producer. Top stories The creative crew of the Public TV had chosen 13-year-old Malena as a participant of this year's contest.
