“Jurassic Park” to be screened at Royal Albert Hall with live orchestra

PanARMENIAN.Net - For the first time, British audiences will be able to watch Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park accompanied by a live orchestra, The Telegraph reports.

Conducted by Ludwig Wicki, the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra will play John Williams’s classic score alongside a screening of the film at London’s Royal Albert Hall this November.

Described by The Telegraph’s Rebecca Hawkes as “timeless” in a five star review, Jurassic Park won three Oscarson its release in 1993, while Williams’s score was nominated for a Grammy.

It is one of three Spielberg films – all scored by Williams – that will be screened with a live orchestra at the venue this year, along with Raiders of the Lost Ark in March and ET in December. Previous film-and-orchestra screenings have attracted Hollywood filmmakers to the venue: director James Cameron attended the hall’s Titanic Live concert in April, and organisers hope Spielberg and Williams may come to the Jurassic Park concerts.

Lucy Noble, Director of Events at the Royal Albert Hall, said: “No-one will ever forget the first time they saw Jurassic Park, one of the scariest – yet most magical – movies in cinema history.”

“Nor will they forget John Williams’ extraordinary score, which did so much to create that sense of terror and wonder, while giving us a triumphant, overpowering gem of a theme tune. This unique presentation of the film, premiering at the Hall [in November] will allow audiences to experience the majesty of Jurassic Park in and all-new way.”

Next month, the Royal Albert Hall will also be hosting a concert of music from classic Westerns, including scores by Ennio Morricone and John Barry, while plans for further film-themed performances are underway, including a concert screening of Amadeus.
