Armenia planning to build new nuke power generating unit by 2027

PanARMENIAN.Net - Work is underway to extend the operational life of the current energy unit of Armenia's nuclear power plant until 2027, Energy Minister said at a meeting with Czech Minister of Industry and Trade Jan Mladek Friday, February 12.

According to Yervand Zakharyan, Armenia is going to build a new nuclear power generating unit with a 600 MW capacity by 2027.

Besides, two new thermal power stations will be constructed in Yerevan and Vanadzor.

During the meeting, the Armenian Minister expressed willingness to support the development of Armenian-Czech ties in both energy and mining sectors.

Also, the parties agreed to form a task force to find new ways and possibilities of expanding bilateral cooperation in energy sector and implementing joint projects.
