Android 6.0 Marshmallow unveiling before Samsung Galaxy S7 launch

PanARMENIAN.Net - Samsung has announced that Android 6.0 Marshmallow is finally coming to its flagship Galaxy devices, kicking off with the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge Monday, February 15, Venturebeat reports.

Google first unveiled Android Marshmallow at its I/O 2015 conference last May, with the final release announced in September, so today’s news has been a long time coming given that Marshmallow was first released last October.

Android Marshmallow only has around 1.2 percent adoption at the time of writing, and new upgrades have traditionally been slow to arrive on manufacturers’ handsets. Samsung should help expedite the uptake somewhat, with other Galaxy devices scheduled to get the Marshmallow update soon after the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

It’s also worth noting here that Samsung is already gearing up to launch its new smartphone, the Galaxy S7, on February 21, so it’s safe to assume that its latest flagship will also sport Marshmallow when it comes to market, almost a year after its predecessors.
