Mario Puzo's “Godfather” archive sold for $625,000 at auctionFebruary 20, 2016 - 16:34 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - An archive containing 45 boxes worth of material from the Godfather series was sold for $625,000 at an auction on Thursday, February 18, according to UPI. The archive, originated from the estate of Godfather author Mario Puzo, contains rare and previously unreleased drafts and notes related to the writing and production of the novel and films. "It's a rare glimpse into the mind of the author of two of the most iconic Films of the 20th Century," Robert Livingston, Executive VP of Boston-based auction house RR Auction said. "The archive covers his entire literary career and provides extraordinary insight into his artistry. We are honored to have been selected by Puzo's estate and couldn't be more thrilled with the results of the sale." The archive was organized into 45 banker's boxes containing rare items such as an original 744-page manuscript of The Godfather novel and six large oak tag storyboards. It also contains thousands of pages of notes from the first Godfather film including insight into the film's development and Puzo's collaboration with director Francis Ford Coppola.
