Azerbaijan to increase Georgia gas supply by 500 million cubic metersFebruary 29, 2016 - 16:50 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijan will supply additional 500 million cubic meters (mcm) of gas per year to Georgia, Trend cited the president of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR as saying. Rovnag Abdullayev made the remarks on the sidelines of the second meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council in Baku on Monday, February 29. “Previously, we supplied 800 mcm of gas to Georgia from the Shah Deniz gas field annually,” he said. “We have managed to increase the supply through that route to 1.5 billion cubic meters (bcm), also raising the exported gas volumes to 1.5 bcm via a pipeline connecting the two countries in Azerbaijan’s Gazakh district.” He also cited an opportunity to transfer extra 500-700 mcm of gas from the Shah Deniz consortium. Earlier, Georgian Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze said the country hoped to agree on additional volumes of Azerbaijani gas. Georgia’s annual gas consumption stands at 2.4 bcm.
