Samsung Galaxy S7 has 8GB less storage than advertised

PanARMENIAN.Net - No smartphone grants users access to 100% of the advertised storage space - operating systems and preloaded apps carry weight - but the Samsung Galaxy S7 takes this problem to another level, Digital Spy said citing Droid Life.

Pre-installed software hogs just over 8GB of memory on the handset, leaving users with 26GB free out of the box.

This space is tied up by the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS, the TouchWiz user interface, and Sammy's own brand apps and services.

MicroSD support softens the blow somewhat, but the Galaxy S7 does not support Android Marshmallow's Adoptable Storage feature, which lets you use your memory card as internal storage. This means apps and media stored on the card are likely to load up slower.

However, users appear to be able to move some of the pre-installed apps to a microSD card to free up internal storage space.

This is by no means a new problem for Samsung customers. Last year's Galaxy S6 denied users access to 6.5GB of their on-board storage, Digital Spy said.
