Spotify rolls out new feature dedicated to undiscovered artistsMarch 3, 2016 - 09:55 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Spotify just earned some indie credibility by launching a new playlist compilation feature dedicated to undiscovered artists, Digital Spy reports. Fresh Finds uses both human and software-based 'tastemakers' to create genre-specific playlists comprised of music from grassroots musicians. Users have five genre options to choose from - Fire Emoji (hip-hop), Basement (electronic), Hiptronix (vocal pop), Six Strings (guitar driven) and Cyclone (experimental). Housed in the Spotify app's Browse tab, the playlists will be updated with the hits of tomorrow every Wednesday to keep your streaming from turning stale. "Spotify has always focused on artists and listeners, and with Fresh Finds we're specifically looking at new creators, digging deeper to understand how undiscovered artists can attract a huge fan base," said Brian Whitman, principal scientist at Spotify. "By analysing the listening behaviour of our top tastemaker users, we're able to predict new breakout artists and filter their hits-to-be into playlists with the most promising new music out there." The new feature is an extension of Spotify's Discovery Weekly playlist, which builds a new playlist for users based on their listening habits.
