Pope Francis accepts invitation to visit Pakistan this year

PanARMENIAN.Net - Pope Francis has accepted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s invitation to visit Pakistan this year, Dawn reported, citing a message received from the Vatican.

According to the report, invitation was extended by Ports and Shipping Minister Kamran Michael and Religious Affairs Minister Sardar Yusuf.

Christians make up about 1.6% of Muslim-majority Pakistan’s population, and have been targeted in the past, particularly under the country’s controversial blasphemy laws.
