Alfonso Cuaron to speak at China-U.S. Motion Picture Summit

PanARMENIAN.Net - Academy Award-winning director Alfonso Cuarón has joined the lineup for the upcoming China-U.S. Motion Picture Summit to be held later this month near Beijing, The Hollywood Reporter reveals.

The inaugural film industry confab, developed by Dick Cook Studios and Chinese state-owned enterprise Citic Guoan, will bring together leading figures from the world's two largest movie markets to discuss collaborative possibilities and changes in the industry.

The conference will take place March 25 in Grand Epoch City, a large tourist resort and conference that was built to look like a small-scale version of Beijing's old walled city.

Previously announced Hollywood attendees include Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences president Cheryl Boone Isaacs, Producers Guild of America president Gary Lucchesi, Bill Borden, co-producer of The Mermaid, China's highest-grossing film ever; Elizabeth Daley, dean of the USC School of Cinematic Arts; writer-turned-director Randall Wallace; Zhang Xun, president of China Film Co-Production Corporation; and others.

Along with Dick Cook Studios and Citic Guoan, the summit was developed by Film Carnival Production Co. with the support of China Media Culture Promotion Association (CMCPA), China Film Association and the Beijing Film Academy.

Other new additions to the speaker lineup include Richard Fox, executive vp of international at Warner Bros.; Andrew Cripps, executive vp at Imax; Zhang Xun, chairman of Max Screen Distribution; and Ann An, a film producer and distribution expert in China.
