Oscar-nommed Elisabeth Shue joins Emma Stone in “Battle of the Sexes”March 22, 2016 - 13:47 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Elisabeth Shue has signed on to join the cast of Fox Searchlight’s “Battle of the Sexes,” starring Emma Stone and Steve Carell, Variety reports. Andrea Riseborough is also on board with “Little Miss Sunshine” filmmakers Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris directing from a script by Simon Beaufoy. Danny Boyle is producing under his Decibel Films banner along with Christian Colson and his company Cloud Eight. The movie will follow the competition between tennis pros Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs, which captured the zeitgeist back in 1973, when at 29, the No. 2 ranked King beat the 55-year-old retired former Wimbledon champion Riggs. Shue will play Riggs’ wife in the pic, with Carell playing Riggs and Stone playing King. “Battle of the Sexes” is one of three projects revolving around the infamous tennis match; the other two are HBO and Playtone’s “Proof,” which stars Elizabeth Banks and Paul Giamatti, and Chernin Entertainment and Gary Sanchez’s “Match Maker” with Steve Conrad writing and Will Ferrell attached to play Riggs. Shue is best known for her Oscar- nominated performance in “Leaving Las Vegas.” She starred in “House at the End of the Street”, “Hope Springs” and “Chasing Mavericks” before joining “CSI” in 2012 for a three-year run.
