Snapchat “buying Bitstrips for $100 million”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Remember when your Facebook feed started filling up with those personalised comic strips called Bitstrips? Soon you might have to put up with them on another social platform, Digital Spy said.

As Digital Spy reports citing Fortune, picture messaging service Snapchat is in talks to buy out Bitstrips for $100 million.

It is unclear why Snapchat wants to acquire the flash-in-the-pan web and mobile application - to gets its hands on its array of personalised emoji creation tools seems like a safe bet.

Although Bitstrips are nowhere near as prevalent as they were a few years ago, the company behind them is said to have raised $11 million in funding from venture capital firms of late.

Snapchat reportedly bankrolled the merger using a mixture of cash and stock, but neither party has officially confirmed the deal.
