The Rolling Stones confirm recording new album for 2016

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Rolling Stones hasn't stopped rolling. Fresh off playing their historic free concert in Cuba last week, the band has confirmed that they are currently readying a new album that will mark their first since 2005's "A Bigger Bang", AceShowbiz reports.

In a new interview with The Associated Press, guitarist Ronnie Wood revealed that he and the group recently returned to the studio, where they spent days recording new original songs as well as a bunch of blues covers. "We went in to cut some new songs, which we did," he said.

"But we got on a blues streak. We cut 11 blues in two days. They are extremely great cover versions of Howlin' Wolf and Little Walter, among other blues people. But they really sound authentic... When we heard them back after not hearing them for a couple of months, we were, 'Who's that? It's you.' It sounded so authentic," he continued. Asked when the album will arrive, he simply replied, "This year."

Wood revealed the new album plans while in London for Monday, April 4's opening of "Exhibitionism", a vast exhibition of the group's history at the Saatchi Gallery. His pals Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts were there with him, but they refused to share more details about their upcoming project. "There's one coming," Richards said. "I can't say no more. My lips are sealed."

The Rolling Stones has released 22 studio albums in Britain and 24 in the United States. Following the "Bigger Bang" release more than a decade ago, the band toured the album in 2005, 2006 and 2007. The aging rockers reunited in 2012 for another tour to celebrate the band's 50th anniversary.
